Two explanations I could come up with are 1- Some sort of lantern cover? 2. Maybe an incense burner?
It is 9" long by 4.5" wide at the base, is made of 1/8" thick brass, has a very fine bayonet type attachment inside.
Must not be very old since it was very slightly tarnished and also has cast marks inside with rougher finish, could not find it's base.
Thanks in advance for your replies. HH
