Have gotten permission to hunt one of the oldest still standing homes in my area.(Cabarrus County NC) It was built in 1876 and has that date on the foundation. The owner was born there and so was his dad. The history involves a family and Indian burial area next to the property. My showing up at this house yesterday drew a crowd of neighbors that all had a ghost story to tell. It is a spooky place to say the least. While it has been gone over by several folks with MD's I could tell from info that none of them knew how to properly use a MD. The only thing they found was trash and a few clad coins. The house has not been lived in for over 40 yrs. He refuses to tear it down due to the family history. It is covered in vines and the back needs to be mowed. Once the lessons on MDing was over for 3 guys they left me alone to detect. I got my finds all in a 30x30 area in the left front of place. I ran out of time so will have to go back. The E-Trac with X8 and 2 tone ferrous pulled the coins out of the buried iron. Every coin had a roofing nail or screw near it. My oldest coin yet beating out my seated dime and having the same date as the home being built makes this one of my favorite hunts. Thanks for looking.. JR

Very nice. I have an old home near my place that I hunt but still trying to get the SE Pro tweaked to where I can find the silver over the seemingly millions of old hand forged nails scattered about. I think this home was build in the early to mid 1800's so I know there has to some sweet treats there for me. Never been detected except by me and found some nice silver spoons, junk jewely and an 05 Indian head and a no date buffalo. Thanks for posting this. Gives me hope yet that more tweaking may reveal some good silver finds. Great finds, congrats.

I love scouring over old overgrown abandoned places like that. Maybe if you offer to mow the lawn and trim the hedges he'll let you inside to explore ;D

Wonderful hunt -- I think that would be almost everyone's fave hunt, especially the coin with same date as house built! :icon_thumright: HAVE FUN! Andi

cool lookin place. great finds. maybe you can hunt it again on Halloween

Very Cool!..I love that House!! I would spend days there!...Maybe not nights..lol...Congrats on the Seated and other finds

dang i would of broke out my Mel-meter,,Ovilus,SB7 spirit box and digital recorders and did a little paranormal hunting after it got dark..

I've been to some pretty spooky looking places. There is one place out in the woods by my house and I have never felt comfortable out there for some reason and I have been going there for decades. I often wondered that after looking up from my hole, if I would see a face in the window of some of the houses that I have hunted at....if you believe in that thing.

I went back to the site late yesterday and I used my ear buds to hunt with. Did hear some strange noises coming from inside the house. It has had a group from Georgia I believe that's called Ghost Hunters set up there at least 6 times and they stated they have seen sprits in the place at certain times of the night. I did pick up 3 more dimes. 45' Merc., 48 and 52 Rosies. Hope to get back there next week for some more spine chilling MDing.

You can find out yourself by buying a small tape recorder and leaving it inside overnight, and simply exploring the house with a Polaroid camera.

Cool finds and story!

Ghosts wouldn't stop me from digging a good spot, they would just have to be jealous of me.

Great finds John! You have been tearing up the silver (quarters especially) lately. Congrats on your oldest silver & first seated quarter. There's gotta be some relics there too (you may need me to come by with the MXT Pro ;) I wonder how many detectorists have experienced something paranormal... I've felt like I was being watched before but for the most part it's all good!
