yes going on the 3rd time ;D opps sorry not a surf guy only turf :(

I would have to say yes and more....

The first ring I found (if I had sold it...wife took it) would have paid for my Excal, the hotel, gas (believe it or not), and the rest of the vacation.

The second season that I finally got out to the beach to hunt with it, I found at least $1000 in jewelry, coins, and other junk. All were found in a in around 12 trips to the beach, not spending more than two hours per beach. I found all of this on beaches that were heavily hunted. I wish I lived near the beach to be there daily, but that is another story.

Mine has paid for itself at least 10 times over this year alone. One Rolex Submariner this year. One 1715 8 reale cob. One 1733 8 reale pillar dollar and tons of rings. I'd say it's paid for itself.

mine has easily

bought other toys from it

you have to get out to find

not much clad in the couch

some but not much

My first detector was a sandshark and with the summer and fall finds, I was able to get an excal. The finds that I have gotten with the excal have paid for about half of it and it is still early April!

My 1st detector has (Ace 250) I found 2 dold rings and a gold earring last year which more than paid for my detector. I bought a Minelab SE Pro and am trying to find something to pay that off. :icon_pirat:

I paid $200 for my Ace250, probably $25 on batteries, another $15 for my digger and lets guess and say $50 for gas. $290 invested. About 4 months after I bought it I found a diamond (CZ) 14K gold tennis bracelet that covered it all. I would love to be able to make a living just metal detecting but that isn't gonna happen anytime soon unless I find a huge cache.
The best way my detector has paid for itself is getting me out from in front of the TV and computer. My kids go with me once in a while and I have some friends who enjoy it now too. Not to mention the new friends I have made since starting this hobby. Like I said the money is nice but some of the things I have found since spending $290 for everything are just plain and simply priceless.

WTG! my friend
Hi Bruce .When you will come here?
Call me.

i will have to say no on this one.had it for awhile now.it doesnt find as much as my infinium did.pick any reason why, because if i knew i would be finding more.and the real kicker is i even hunt more often now than when i had my infinium

Remember everybody, we are in it for the hobby....at least supposedly.

Also, it is the only hobby that pays for itself, at least over time.

But, again, number one, have fun; the money, gold, and jewels are the bonus

No, not unless aluminum scrap prices skyrocket :tongue3:

But seriously, when I got into this hobby just over 9 years ago, I was blown away at how I was focused on the hunt. Everything else just faded away. Yeah, hopes of finding a nice diamond ring are always in the back of my mind. Maybe one day, but if that doesn't happen, enjoying the hunt will have to do. That's just fine by me.

Good lord! That is just sick !!!! I was real disappointed I couldn't make it to the GSBS this year. I could've shook your hand and maybe got a little of that Midas touch you have.
