Has anyone used a EM-83 by Geo-Western?

Can someone tell me what they think of this unit? There is nothing on the net except at the Geo-Western site. Strange!

I think you really mean EM-38. It is from Geonics.

No. it's a EM-83 by geo-western.com. I bought a second hand unit and it works great. Heavy and big but works. They were big in the 80's. My unit was built in 1997.

I bought a used one but never got a chance to test it. The batteries were verry old and it was acting up. By the time we realised that the problem was the bateries,we messed up the circuit boards. now I just have the two coils left from it...

Geo-western is still in business. You should get a quote on getting the unit repaired. It's worth it.

This is a cave in KY about 80-120 foot deep using the em-83.

Nice data map, Tim.

For all: yes, Geo-Western is still in business. In fact, a new model of the EM-83 is currently in final testing. Old models that need repair can still be refurbished.
