has anyone found silver coins with a Bounty Hunter 3300???

Yes I have I found silver at 7-10 inches with the 3300. They sometimes read like pull tabs and pennies because of the depth. I have found that deeper objects read lower on the VDI. Most silver will be deeper than 5 inches from age and sinkage. Here is how I hunt silver

1. Research an old site that should have silver.
2. Get some fresh batteries
3. GB the detector
4. Search in pinpoint mode only
5. The pinpoint field for a coin size object is conical and about 10 to 11 inches in normal soil.
6. When you find a target lift your coil and try to get the target at the tip of your field where you can barely detect it.
7. With the tip of your field find the edges of the target and outline the object. This will tell you the size.
8. Check If the outline is coin sized 2" or less, if it is? go to step 9 if it is larger pass and keep looking it probably ain't a coin (it might be 5 coins but most likely its trash) pass anyway for now.
9. When you find a coin size object, eyeball the distance of your coil from the ground with the tip of your field barely detecting the target. This will give you the an approx true depth since you know your field is about 10-11 inches and you know the size. Try to only profile and dig the deeper faint signals
10. Pinpoint the object and switch to all metal swing fast over it a couple times if the repeatable VDI is anything but iron DIG IT (trust me on this). If you cant detect it in all metal mode it may be too deep for all metal DIG IT anyway. If the VDI is iron pass and keep looking. I have very rarely received a false signal on a an iron object. if the machine says its iron, it IS!
11. Once you find a few coins try to age the site and Approximate the age/sinkage level vs the size of the object. then adjust your profiling to find silver at the adjusted depth. (I know there are exceptions to all these rules but we are trying to play it by the numbers to get the best chance of finding the goods)
Hope this helps

This approach should maximize your older coin and silver finds and minimize your trash and clad finds.

I haven't found any silver coins yet but thats mainly because I haven't really hunted an area that can produce them. But, I have found a silver earring and a couple gold earrings and a 14k diamond tennis bracelet. No rings with the 3300 yet though.Except those annoying aluminum ones! :o ;D :) It'll find them,if they're there to be found. :)

Here are my finds with the 3300 from the last eight months.

Merf are you using a method like Youngladd???? read below!!!

Great finds......

I was beginning to wonder if the 3300 can find silver.........and how deep were your coins???
