Has anyone ever hunted next to or on a old silver mine location?

I was watching the History Channel the other day and they had a documentary on Silver Mines and some of the mines after there done and finished with them they would bulldoze all the buildings and then turn the land back into what was once there. I was just curious if anyone is ever known or have hunted an old silver mine with success? I don't plan on hunting a silver mine but would be interested in knowing if any good things came off the land of an old silver mine location.

I can't even image how much silver a huge silver mine producing would throw out or accidentally lose some silver. I'm sure they can be hot spots.
