✅ SOLVED Has anybody seen one of these before?

I found this today at the site of an old hotel that was built in 1911-1912 and burned down in 1979. I think it may be a makeup item because it has a brownish grease like material inside. The small pin moves up and down moving a small plate similar to Chapstick. Any help will be greatly appreciated. The canisters metal is very soft. Thanks!

Sounds like a lipstick tube alright, but I'm not sure that I'd consider it an antique.... Recyclable maybe.
