Backmark indicates that it is fairly modern I think, but not real sure what the swords/gladiator helmet indicates?

Any ideas?

I haven't seen that "crossed sabers and Roman Army Officer's helmet" emblem on your button before. If I had to make a guess, I think it's most likely to be a Military School's emblem. So I searched all the way through the Albert button-book's Schools-&-Universities section for you. No result. I also checked that book's Unknown-&-Unidentified section.

You are right about it having a "fairly modern" backmark. That particular version of Waterbury Button Co. backmark, written in "plain block" lettering, dates from 1890 to circa 1943, when the company changed its name to Waterbury Companies (plural).

Because I love college football, in particular Ohio State, and hate everything to do with MI football....the image reminds me of a Spartan helmet so maybe it has something to do with that state up north?

my first thought was maybe 1890-ish US Cavalry when they were using the European influenced plumed helmets, but I can't find anything to back that up
