I have found a few stones over the past month that look to me like they may have been tools.
The first one stands on it's own.Flat smooth polish to it.
The second i assume was nutting stone or something.Fits the hand nice and has been well used on the business end.
The third i'm not sure.Looks to have been worked ,has a spot on it that looks like it took the beating.Hammerstone maybe ,I don't know.Any ideas? Thanks HB

Hello there,
The first is so polished yet shows not much other ware.
Secound maybe paint stone. Third some sort of rollar pulverizer, that my guess. Have few stones like that are similar.

that top one looks like it was used as pigment, ground down finely to pigment. cool.

Second picture could be a nutting stone I suppose as it does have a slight depression in it... but it could also be natural IMO... the marks on the other side of that one are plow scars. The last one could have been used as a hammer stone.. can't tell for sure. The first one is definitely very odd but... I don't think it's a cone. I think the rock had a hard layer running through it and the rest of it is softer material or something.. I say that because the smooth surface doesn't appear to be polished from use.. the layer that is smooth is too uniform, particularly in the depth with which it runs up the side edges. Also because what would be the "handle" area of the cone is quite rough and if it had been intentionally manufactured I think we would see some evidence of it on that surface as well.

I knew these would get your rocks off Beano....No but seriuously these aren't rocks like you post. These rocks don't come from my area. They were clearly brought from somewhere else. The first one is so smooth it would be a freak of nature if it wasn't done by early man.I' don't know what purpose it may have served but i think it has been used for something. The surface is smooth as glass.Don't know about the other two but like I said they don't fit in here where they were found. It's hard to photo the business ends for you to view.Like I said they are all possible tools but maybe not. Never said they were bud.

Enlighten me on who the" Experts "might be..... i'll ask
