Hardin County (Elizabethtown) Sites???

Starting at the 99 mile marker on I-65 you will see the railroad running along the side of the mountian. Morgan came thru and burned the trestles, the rock supports are still there. There were three forts along this Muldraugh Hill range to protect the Trestle, Sands, Jones and Boyle. Lot of relics have been taken from there. On Hawkins Drive just south of town there was a camp behind the school good luck!

You can pull a nice satellite photo of Ft. Sands which will show the outlines of the battlements. The owner had it about sold a few years ago so I don't know who owns the property now. There are many old towns that were abandoned with the establishment of Ft Knox and these have proven great sites to me. Pick up a copy of, "The Land Before Ft. Knox" for a wealth of old sites!
