Hard Times Token and 1/2 Penny Token

Found my first Hard Times Token tonight (1841) and my second 1844 Bank of Montreal Token. Also pictured is some pewter spoon pieces and a flat button. Thanks for looking.

Nice old tokens for sure. Did I say old? They are gonna be needing to make some more of those before to long "Hard times Tokens".

Here's a bit more information for you on your Canadian Penny find.

Bank of Montreal Token 1844 - A relatively common Half Penny token showing the front view of the Bank of Montreal. It was issued in two years, 1842 and 1844. The tokens were struck by Boulton and Watt in denominations of penny and halfpenny.

Here's a bit more information for you on your Canadian Penny find.

Bank of Montreal Token 1844 - A relatively common Half Penny token showing the front view of the Bank of Montreal. It was issued in two years, 1842 and 1844. The tokens were struck by Boulton and Watt in denominations of penny and halfpenny.

Just to clarify, that 'Boulton and Watt' were the inventors of this first steam pressed coin mill/machine which produced the 1797 cartwheel pennies (hated & only made for that year). They worked from a mint in Birmingham, UK. :icon_thumright:

not really, just making sure people understood where 'Boulton and Watt' worked from, in case people thought Canada.
