So I dug this thing awhile ago and been trying to figure it out but no luck. It's about 2 3/4 inches across and made of lead. It has no way of hooking on the back as most items like this do. No broken rusted iron sticking out of it. It could just some guy with nothing better to do than make a lead star thing. So what is your idea of what it is?

I have dug similar lead stars like this around old 19th c. house sites.. If I get time tomorrow and remember I will take photos of the ones I have. I think they may just have been used for like paper weight or something in that nature? good luck.

I've found melted lead in just about every shape, including spoons...guess it was easy to do ...your lead star may have been melted lead poured into the old heavy aluminum cookie cutter pattern...just a guess

Funny you should say that my wife said "it's probably a paper weight" laughing. It could be I dug it at a house that's long gone that was built in 1798 and was taken down in the 1950s to become a field.
