My hardshell case comes with an engine.

Looks a little big for carry on, your going to need to check that bag when you fly
 

I use a bow case. Works very well.

Yes, you have to pay for an extra piece of luggage, but it's worth it to me- errrrr, I mean my employer who foots my transportation costs.

When I fly, I just put it in a suitcase and pack my clothes all around it for padding.

Plano All-Weather Bow Case.

I ordered it through Wal-mart. I got the extra foam padding from a fabric store.
 

I bought a Pelican case and made the foam cutter, I wanted smooth cuts in the foam. Travels well, but do not forget a TSA lock. I lost the lock in my hotel room, and on my return trip, the baggage guy had opened it to see what was inside. I may have been a few minutes from having it stolen. FYI, they will assume that it is a firearm if you take this to an airport.
