Wife & I went to D-Day Memorial for their "gathering"; both our dads were there, during the war. Her father was army air corp (bomber), & my dad was a guard at a POW Camp in France after the "first wave". They are both deceased​; didn't talk much about it.

I had a gift for languages, did 47 weeks in El Paso TX studying Vietnamese, and then did two tours over there..... Really got along pretty good with the gals there Shot at and missed, **** at and hit = whatever. Came home and this place sucked, period! For a long time I really wanted to go back. But here we are today.

I have to remind myself I am also a veteran. Yes, I spent two years in the Army, mostly at Crash Rescue, Fort Lewis, but all these years psychologically I think of real veterans as those who were in combat. And, I was not. A strange quirk in my mind, I guess.
