I was in an old part of town on Sunday. I dug what I thought was a large bottle cap. However, after a second look... I could tell it was oval, as opposed to round.

After a closer look... I could see a hand engraved monogram on the face of it, and it's silver!

The back has a rusted away iron attachment, which appears to have been put in with lead.

My thought is bridle rosette, but I've not seen one like this.

Any assistance with age or ID is most appreciated!

Very nice! What throws it off is the iron, as I thought cane, parasol, decanter, culinary, rosette maybe.....:icon_scratch: It's ripe with age I will say that, congrats.

Snuff box?

The blob of iron and lead inside of it seems to indicate that it was attached to something else. The top of a walking cane has been mentioned. Thanks for the input.

Hello Tom!

My hunch is that this was a cane topper. I don't know why there'd be iron there underneath the silver otherwise.

GREAT find!!

Cheers,
