Lately I've been reading posts on various prospecting forums about hand dredges and how to build them. Today, while at a job, I got to talking to the Gardener about them and he showed me a valve box pump that he's had for several years. Main pump body about 3.5 ft. long with a small opening of about a 1/2" at the suction end that could be modified. He said he paid $ 8.00 for it at Rain for Rent, a local farm and gardening supply store. He also told me about a larger model at a different local store that has a hose attachment for transferring water by pumping it like a hand dredge. Just passing this along as a possible alternative to ready made hand dredges for folks that may be interested. 8)
