Going with the flat outer edges of the crown and the four-lobed opening in the center of the cross on the reverse I'd guess (big guess) it's a Edward III halfpenny minted in York. VERY much a guess.

I don't know, but it's very early. Found on this side the pond or the other?

did some looking on the net and any I found that had the clover-like design where the bars of the cross intersect seem to be attributed to Henry IV (1399-1413).

It's a tough one without the start of the Obverse legend, it's a best guess. What we do know for sure is that it is a York Mint, as stated by others.

Because it is so heavily clipped & worn (& other features) this points towards Edward IV. Pretty rare King to get, so I'm only 80% confident.

Found on this side of the pond, but sadly not in the ground, just in a collection I purchased. Although based on the condition of the other coins it came with it was probably found metal detecting in England somewhere.
