Nice work, Gypsy! :)

I figured they must be either Canadian or British, as I couldn't find a listing for them in any of my jewelry marks references.

Evidently they're still around, as I found a listing for them as donors of medals to a 2007 competition of the Royal New Brunswick Rifle Association:

ANNUAL PRIZE MEET – NEW BRUNSWICK
NB Provincial Target Rifle, Modified Target Rifle & F Class Championships
EVENT R18 – AUGUST 11, 12

2B. THE GEORGE BURGE MEMORIAL – PRINCE OF WALES 2nd STAGE
1100 hrs Entry Fee: $10.00
Range: 500 metres. 2 convertible sighters. 10 on score.

Prizes: Shute & Co. Trophy (#33). 1st place medal in each class.

Just tidying up some blasts from the past (including some very ancient ones), largely for the benefit of anyone searching the site for information.

The company started life as S.F. Shute, operating from Sharkeys Block, above Barker House, Queen Street, Fredericton, New Brunswick in Canada since at least 1879. Shute & Co. was formed by a partnership between S.F. Sute and his son around 1895 and lasted until 1960, still using that name. Their address is later given as 566 Queen St, Fredericton, New Brunswick.
