WOW!!!! It would be cooool to see if you could piece them back together..... or, make a coool stained glass window out of the pieces..

PLL

I remember back at the club meetings in the early 70's there was a guy gluing nice broken pieces to glass blocks, he would drill a hole in the bottom of the block and attach a light bulb fixture inside. He would carefully trim and fit beautiful broken pieces of rare flasks, meds, anything rare and colorful. He used epoxy. The pieces do not have to be flat, if you do it right the rounder pieces work fine. I think I'll try it someday, I'll show pics.

Yup, I think many of us have a similar accumulation. Some our fault and some not.

Well, sometimes you never know where a post will lead , I'm one who will get a "bit off topic",... Sorry ;D !!
But !! years ago in the 80's I was playing with stain-glass , and being the "pig" that I am , had a hard time keeping myself out of any old dump I found !! Anyway never found many nice whole bottles ,... but found many bits and pieces of 'em !! I started saving the "nicer" ones for a panal [stain-glass],.hmmm,should still have 'em ?
Anyway , the idea I'm sure has been done before , But I'll give a quick "how-to" here. Insead of using lead "kane"[sp?] thats typicly used on flat stain-glass , I was going to use copper-foil , you can buy this at Stain-glass shop's in varying widths , I even have found it in sheet form. Now you would take this foil and wrap the edges of your glass solder them , then solder the pieces together , its easy to do !! Now, of corse theres a bit more to know ,... but not much !! You could be into this "new" hobbie for less then $100 ; elec. soldering iron for 50 , foil, solder, flux, for 20 , few other tools you may even have laying around ?? If you went "all-out" you would need a glass-grinder [150 ?] I believe a old cabochon machine [rock grider/with water] would be better at this task , ... flea-bay $100 ??
Anyway ,.. many here may know this already , some may have never give'n it a thought . But I think that some here could make a nice "panal of shame" this winter ,... you that arn't in Califonia and are doomed to be "frozen in" ,... that is ;D
Joel ; A.K.A. ,blindpig

Dang!!,.... re-read post , looks as if O' Pegleglooker beat me to the Stain-glass thing ,.....Soooo, I guess I wasn't "bit-off" topic ,...... this time !!

pegleglooker and blindpig, neat idea. I will give it a try, maybe try to fashion a simple, small desk lamp. We'll see what happens. Cabin fever is a clinical malady around these parts.
