Half Dollar mint error??????

Found this half in my change today. It looks like the additional trash metal happen when the coin was minted. Can any one explain what this is??

Granted you can tell better with it in-hand....But it looks like glue or solder to me.

Yep, it is glue! Funny how glue on a coin can look like coin metal and yes, back in the day, it even fooled me.

Yep it is glue. Really fooled me even with a loop it looked like metal. Learn something new everyday. Thanks guys
