I found this at a homesite im diggin the foundation is from around 1812 period the hall family occupied it and havent much so far but a old padlock and few three ringers and one two ringer . I had this in my junk bag thought it was just a peice of scrap iron till I notice a round lip on the outside and realized its a half of a buckle it has two partial hooks on the back and on the front right side is a cannon and on the left a design which almost looks like a crest of some sort .The measurements are 1 3/4" of a inch length which would be 3 1/2 " total if it was whole , by 2 5/8 " height .Thanks in advance for the help !

Without better pics - and of both sides - and some idea of size, it will be tricky for anyone to help you. :icon_scratch: 8) :dontknow:
It sounds very interesting :icon_thumright:

Your pics are still very difficult to decipher.
Whatever you are using to take the pics, you will probably get better results by taking the pics under natural light and against a darker background.
