So I'm at my local soccer field, getting my clad fix before the rains move in, and my Classic 4 starts to chatter. I twisted knobs and flipped triggers and she still won't pick up any signals even in all metal. Just a continuous noisy chattering It's done this before and replacing the batteries with fresh ones cured it. Problem is these batteries are less than ten hours old. So I yank the battery pack anyway. fiddle with it wait a bit, put it back, same chatter. Take the pack out again, remove all the batteries to verify they are all good( I keep a voltmeter in the car). Upon installation my detector clicks on and tones out perfectly on a convenient curbside nickel then promptly goes back into that chattering fit. I'm just a little more than peeved at this point and respond with a slap to her hind quarters. BINGO! that was just the ticket. hunted for 2 more hours without a lick of trouble.
Any Ideas on what causes this and how to fix it without treating my machine like a spoiled brat?
Thanks,
Zach
