Had no luck ID'ing this Figure Bottle

Hello everyone,
This is my first post. This bottle was found in a park in the bushes and given to my mother in law some 30 years ago. Seeing as I am a Treasure Hunter she finally gave it up (I think I may owe her more favors than its worth ;)). I have looked at many bottle sites posted in these forums with no luck. There is a symbol on the bottom that looks like an anchor. My research tells me it's made sometime after prohibition because of the words "FEDERAL LAW PROHIBITS SALE OR REUSE OF THIS BOTTLE". Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Had no luck ID'ing this Figure Bottle

Well....I can guess the figure on the bottle is one of those guitar players from "ZZ Top". Maybe they tossed... er lost it at a gig there? I heard you gotta sip some booze if you're gonna play the blues....no...a Beatle said that...But,then,I wouldn't drink from a green bottle...

Well friend the one thing I can help you with right now is... the date.
I can't tell from the picture how far up does the seam line goes?
I'm quessing the 1920s with the law warning.

Can't be older than 1910.
It is modern, perhaps some kind of medicine bottle or replica of an older one.
It will take a little time to research

Re: Had no luck ID'ing this Figure Bottle

It's a Hiram Ricker "Moses" bottle . Poland Spring , Maine . I believe the earliest ones were for water . The screwtop ones held Gin (I think). I find them at garage sales and in bottle dumps up here in Maine . I like them . Nice find !

After the end of Prohibition, the Lawrence Co. of Boston made Poland Spring Gin Sloe Gin, and Whiskey using Poland Spring water and selling them in Moses bottles. While competitors spring up Poland Water was the acknowledged standard and favored brand. It received a special award at the 1893 Columbia Exposition in Chicago.

Poland Water was originally bottled in bimal olive green 2-quart bottles and aqua applied top wicker covered demijohns. Gray stoneware jugs had the blue lettering "Poland Mineral Spring Water, Hiram Ricker & Sons, Proprietors, South Poland, ME." The first cork lined metal crimped cap appeared in 1910.

Re: Had no luck ID'ing this Figure Bottle

"FEDERAL LAW PROHIBITS SALE OR REUSE OF THIS BOTTLE" was embossed on liquor bottles from sometime after prohibition to around the 60's. i think.

The Federal Law...embossing indicates a date range between 1932 and 1964.
