I live in a large valley in south central Colorado. There were mamoths and such here a number of years back. It had been a great lake and had drained and the early people moved in.
At the top end of the valley, where the lake shore used to be, the county dug a big ole landfill hole and the volcanic ash type dirt was hauled around and used as side apron material on our roads. In that dirt on my road I have found a couple of artifacts and a fossil over the years and today's walk netted me this sweet little thumb scraper.
I'm stoaked...
disclaimer: I did not pay the county guys to bring artifacts to my road...
