While detecting an eroded area of beach a few months ago I found some bullets like this one, one two and three ringed as well as this metal part.

Is it a gun part or something else?

The metal part doesn't look like it's been in the ground very long, while you bullet shows lots of patina. The knurling in the grooves of the bullet makes it a more modern bullet but the patina says it could date back to the early 1900's, late 1800's. As far as the other being a gun part, it's not part of any gun I'm familiar with, but there are modern guns with all sorts of stuff on them that I have no idea, perhaps some younger, more modern fellow will know more. The part has what looks like bluing, which is the finish on metal parts of guns, but it's stamped out, not machined, therefore I have doubts, but what do I know, the world passed me by several years ago.

Thanks for replying :) Someone on another forum suggest part of a barrel bolt lock. Still researching :) PS those whom the world has passed by several years ago hold the most treasures!

Looks like part of a tire changing kit. On some cars it is a small hydronic jack, tire iron and the crank. This looks similar to the part that secures the crank and tire iron during storage conditions in the vehicle.???

Hm, very interesting! I'll research that!

I've disassembled, cleaned and reassembled many modern rifles and hand guns, I agree with BosnMate, nothing I ever come across in or on a gun.

Does not resemble any gun part I've ever seen or that I remember seeing. It does look like a car part maybe? It looks very familiar, and I can't connect it right now. Kind of even resembles a car window track part, that is inside the doors. :dontknow:

Looks like a newer kick stand mounting bracket from a bicycle.

Interesting! This could be it. Lot's of bikes on the beach and I even found another one like it today. Thanks! Going to look into that idea!
