Sorry I can't be of help. I am looking through an Artifact gun book of dug guns and i have found a very similar match to yours and it says "unknown pistol" We have many gun experts on here who should be able to ID this for you!! Very kewl find though!

This picture isnt the pistol but,the break open action is the same.

It was most likely a .31 or .32 caliber pocket pistol.

Looks like a .32 caliber Smith and Wesson model 1 1/2. It was a five shot rim fire, and dates back from 1865 to 1875.
If a reb ever got shot by a yankee with one of those guns, and the reb found out about it, the yankee would probably
wear that pistol in a private location where the sun doesn't reach. Here's a picture.

Looking at the hinge of your find, I think it's more likely this gun, a Smith and Wesson third issue 7 shot, small frame,
.22 Short single action spur trigger pocket revolver manufactured from the 1860's through the 70's. The rod that
sticks out under the barrel is a fixed ejector. The barrel tips up for the cylinder to be removed, then the empties are
punched out of the cylinder using the rod, and the cylinder reloaded and placed back in the frame and the barrel locked
back down. Compare the top hinge on your frame with the one on this gun.

It's probably not a Smith an Wesson..... It's more likely a Marlin Model 1873 .22 Cal pocket revolver. Notice the round plate on the left side and the placement of the trigger pin right at the bottom of that plate..... Also the shape of the hinge is different from the Smith.
