Iā€™m pretty sure this is a Teisco guitar, I found it in the trunk of a junk car, but Iā€™ve been google searching and have yet to find it, anybody out there happen to know what model it is ? And vintage ? Itā€™s a hollow body electric, 2 pickups. Kind of a Strat style body with a strange headstock. It seems to work just fine except that the whammy handle is missing. I love vintage guitars. That most closely resembles a Teisco ā€˜Version 1, EP-10Tā€™ as shown below in ā€˜sunburstā€™ style, which dates from around 1964. Note that this one has distinctive paddle-shaped knobs on the machine heads, but it also exists with oval knobs as for yours.

However, note also that this model should have a logo at the top of the headstock as either a white plate with the Teisco Del Rey trademark or a black disc with their stylised swan trademark. I donā€™t think these plates can be prised off or lost without leaving a mark on the varnish. The above example has a white plate, but itā€™s almost obscured by the flash from the camera.

So, I think not a Teisco guitar as such although it may (or may not) have been made in the same factory. There was a complicated inter-relationship between the Teisco Co Ltd, the WMI Corporation who were the main US importer of Japanese guitars of this era in general, and the ownership of or entitlement to use the Teisco trademarks. I wonā€™t attempt to explain further, but just point you towards the complexities of branding summarised here:

I googled that model number and found several without the medallion, I looked at mine and see no evidence of there ever having been one, canā€™t find the same color either. Not a bad find for rooting around in junk cars, the yard owner let me have it for nothing, it wouldā€™ve been crushed with the car. Iā€™m amazed that it actually works, both pickups and all the switches.

Worked at a junk yard when I was 16. We would race to see who pulled the back seat up first. Found everything from rings to guns!!

Cool save! This one is very close. Also missing the whammy bar.

Sold for $300 on eBay back in April!

Just curious what kind of car was it in?

Note however that guitar has a Teisco trademark plate at the top of the headstock (as I mentioned above). As the OP discovered from Googling, there are similar examples kicking around which - like the one he has - don't have a trademark plate. Even though the sellers usually claim them to be Teisco, they likely aren't... or at least were not originally marketed as such. They're Japanese and of the same era, but may or may not have come from the Teisco factory.

I hear you. Here's an article which makes the subject about as clear as mud:
