I came across a few this spring and didn't think about taking a pic. I wish I would have. Most want to bite coil other slither away. I was in river a few weeks back and came across a 15-20 lb snapping turtle needles to say I kept my coil away from it.

Oh Moresound... NO. I like snakes. I grew up with them, so I have no fear of them. They may not be cute and furry, but they are a part of nature, and we should not kill them out of fear or ignorance. That poor little snake was just trying to do his part in the natural world, he did not choose to be a snake, that was just his lot in life. I have a weak spot when it comes to people being mean to any animal... sorry, I hope that I am not on my soapbox.

A snake is just another awesome creature like a dog or a cat. Not cute cuddly or furry but we should never kill them or hurt any animals. We are generally rolling into there home for one. They are scared of us and it's not like they're trying to hunt us down like prey. Trust me I'm scared of the little ones but I love all animals and hate that some just kill what they fear. I once saw a guy kicking a dog on the sidewalk and had to pull over my truck and well....he got to experience what it felt like to be beat on by something. Sorry I know this is not the place for this post but this subject makes me a lil mad and sad at the same time

Spiders are just another ones of God creatures, just like all living animals. They don,t prey on humans, just try to defend themselfs.

I leave everything I come across alone while detecting. I'm in their territory. I do hunt but only take what I need for the freezer for food. I like deer hunting and rabbit hunting. I love to fish and have a freezer full of pearch and walleye rite now. I even will set lines for snapping turtles but have not done that since my grandfather passed. We would set lines for turtles and clean them and freeze or have a turtle fry. I went hunting and fishing with my grandfather since I can remember. I set in a tree stand during season now and think of him often and sometimes laugh because we bow hunted and I don't know how he ever got one because under his stand at end of the day was a pile of cigarette butts and a empty 6 pack of whatever beer was cheap. Lol but he always got one every year. Sry was doing some reminiscing but I agree just leave those snakes alone and where I live I don't have to worry about poisonous ones so they are mostly harmless. I do carry my concealed .45 with me in the woods but that's mostly for what if situations. Good luck everyone.

Most people do a version of the pee-pee dance when they walk across a snakes path.
I grew up on a farm and know the value of having snakes around.
