GTAX 1000 - Comparable To What Modern Model?

My brother has an older (mid 90's) Garrett gtax 1000. It's been sitting for years but I'm just wondering how good (depth, discrimination ect) of a machine it is compared to new models.

He has been hearing me talk about MD'n and he wants to get back into it. I know he liked the machine back then. Any reason he should feel the need to upgrade or is this machine still a capable coin shooter?

i have a powermaster gtax 1000 and found a lot of good stuff with would still be using it but bought at pro

The GtAX 1000 is about on par with the ACE 250 --if its the POWERMASTER version -- its comparable the GTAX 1250 or 1350
