Hi all, from detectingsteve.........I've been gone a LONG TIME,lots of personal issues;Serious back surgery in 2011;and a not-wanted-at-all divorce, same time....Still havin back issues;had to file for disability, got it last year.......NOW!!!!!!My divorce is WAY behind me,GOD has brought me through!!I am getting ready to move ALL THE WAY across Michigan, from the Thumb,to Montague,WAY over on Lake Michigan!!!I am engaged,Marcia and I will be married 7/20/2013.She is an AVID detectorist;has one of her own!!!....LOTS of detecting over thisaway;up the street there is an old resort that dates from the 50's,they own almost 400',of prime Lake Michigan Beach Frontage!!....NOW for the BAD news:This resort has been sold on a foreclosure,to a real estate Co....Signs in the driveway say"OPENHOUSE!!!" "CONDOMINIUMS!!"....8 acres,I found the resort's website online ....... It was open, until 2010;they tried to sell the individual cottages to the public, there are 10 or 12 in there...PROBLEM?YES:Each and every one of them cottages are still wearing ALL of their '50,s vintage construction:Roofs, electric, plumbing, heating, interiors.ALL of them, including the owner's house;need MANY $$$'s of renovations,so it looks like the plan is to sell it to some developer;bring in the bulldozers,and.....I just hope I can get permission to detect the grounds, before they lay waste to it..........ON A HAPPY NOTE:There are stairs there, that go up the bluff and down the Lake Michigan side, which accesses their almost 400' of private beach, and there is a public access point right down from my house to Lake Michigan. When I go down there and look north, their stairs coming down to their private beach,is clearly visible.I've been told on the Great lakes if it is posted as private, that only applies to the sand, the H2O is everybody's....SO:I'm sittin here thinking:HOW MANY GOODIES ARE LAYIN UNDER THE SAND IN THE H20,WAITIN TO BE BEEPEDIf it opened in the '50s;and stayed open every summer until at least 2010;that's around SIXTY YEARS,OF POTENTIAL FINDS,DOWN THERE:less than 1/2 a mile from where I sit, right now...............Could be,Hurricane Sandy, and who knows how many more storms over the last 60+years,either DREDGED them up,or COVERED 'em up,DEEP;50/50 chance....Me,Marcia; and my trusty Fisher 1280X will find out, this SUMMER!!!....Steve...............
