I have been sidelined the last month with a severe case of poison oak I picked up along the creek and have been itching to get back to the hobo jungle, a warren of trails, dumps and squatters camps, that line our local creek. This is the oldest section of town and still holds the best chance of spanish coins and early artifacts. Although one needs to follow a few safety rules, such as, be alert, don't mess with peoples goods, and hunt only weekdays in daylight, I have found the free-range citizens by and large peaceful, and even informative about the best places to hunt, and where and who to avoid. "Stay away from the north bank over there them drunks are crazy. Thats why we live over here." Or "Try 100 yards this side of the bridge we find stuff there all the time, stop by and see us next time you come down". So this afternoon I hit a spot I did well at in my early days some 20 years ago and found my first silver coin along the creek since I started up again in January. It is only a merc and it's plow struck but doggone Im proud of her and the other junk I done found. Keep scratchin, Qball
