Have been quietly treasure hunting -- first Armchair Treasure Hunts, then Real Life -- for over a decade. Am hoping to find a lead for an inland salvage attorney for my current project from online and community resources. (More marine lawyers than drops in the ocean, but very little info on what to do when you don't have to wade in the water to get something!)

Welcome to the forum from Massachusetts!

Thanks for the welcome, guys! Hopefully I will keep plugging and have something to report. I hit the streets today, going from legal offices that looked at me in a kindly but baffled way when I asked if the knee anything about antiquities laws, to the local museum folks who kindly pointed me in the direction of specialists at an upscale auction house, since it would make sense they would have to know the ins and outs of the current laws, or at least again point me in the right direction. Will let you know if anything comes of it long-term.

If what you are looking for is on public land, in Mass. you may need an act of God. If public land, work it out with the owner. When people run into difficulties is when someone finds something significant, then everybody else then wants in on it.
