I wanted to introduce myself to this great forum. I'm an avid rockhounder turned treasure hunter. Seems everyone in the prescott area has this thing for yellow metal so now I've taken a fancy to finding that. However the dandruff sized flakes at best aren't worth all the work some of these guys do.....so where does someone with a good eye, strong back, a metal detector and a want for bigger gold go around here?

Hope to meet up with some more of you locals and the guys down in the weaver mountains.
Sounds like there's a great deal of gold nuggets sitting out on that rich hill!

Anyways I'm excited to see what the new year brings!
Cheers

Welcome Dorantroyaz.

For big nuggets look in Rich Hill, Little San Domingo, Quartzsite, Greaterville and several out of the way spots in between, including the Bradshaw Mountains. Very near to you there are nuggets being found every day.

Get out of the creek bottoms and check out some of the ridges along the old Black Canyon Hwy. or along Bannie mine road. Be respectful of other miners claims in those areas. There is lots more gold out there to be found.

Join the GPAA about $65 yr, more than enough claims in your area and the Bradshaws. I didn't want to be on someones claim and this really helps for me...... no nuggets yet in my first year but some fine gold has been found. I did the coin/jewelry detecting for a while but the gold puts you in way different territory which i really enjoy

Welcome aboard! Take a look at Sub-Forums: Arizona for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state.

Hello and welcome to the site!

Thanks for the warm welcome and tips for the area. I've been playing in the bradshaws for years but never with a metal detector and on the hunt for gold!
Bannie mine area has actually given me some pretty decent gold in the little bit that I've panned there. I've already scanned a lot of the Bannie area with the metal detector and found lots of garbage.
If anyone has any other sweet spots they care to share in the upper bradshaw neck of the woods I'll happily drive!

Thanks again for the welcome! Seems like everyone on this forum is a good bunch of people! ;)

We are in Prescott. It would be nice to meet someone out this way. My husband recently read a story of granite basin treasure stage coach loss. Never found..anyway, we like going out. I would be interested in heading down towards the bronco canyon area sometime.
