Greetings from Plano, Texas!

I got married in December 2012, and my new husband introduced me to the fascinating world of metal detecting. He already had a couple of metal detectors (one Garrett, one Bounty), and yesterday he bought me my very own Garrett Ace 250. I can hardly wait to try it out! With his current ones, we found $0.55 in our front yard (from the dates, it was pretty obvious that it was a kid's lunch or ice cream money from the early 1980's that must've fallen out of his pocket).

I've always been interested in history, archaeology, treasure, so this is right up my alley!

Since Dave is new to the area (moved here -- Plano, TX -- from Augusta, GA) and I'm new to the hobby, would someone tell us where we can go to use our metal detectors without getting arrested or a pants full of buckshot?

Got a buddy that lives in Plano, said to be a nice place.

I'd start on tot lots - they're easy to dig and you'll learn about your machine.

In the meantime, you can do some research - this board is a good place to start. If I were in Plano, I'd get out of town to a lot smaller, sleepier place.
