From what I've seen already, this is the place to be for prospectors and treasure hunters. About me: I spent my youthful summers with my grandmother camping, fishing, and prospecting the Yuba river. When I got into my career, all that stopped. A year ago I moved to Oakdale, CA and the life I enjoyed as a youth has returned to me. It started by resuming fly fishing. As I express the rivers around the area, my inner voice started reminding me of what my grandmother told me about prospecting; where to dig, what to look for, etc. One day I grabbed my pan (covered in twenty plus years of dust) instead of my fishing pole. I ran one pan and found several colors, mostly 50's and 100's. I was hooked. That was three months ago.

The prospecting equipment sure has changed over the years. I am currently running a home made hand dredge W/bucket and an Angus Mackirk expedition sluice. I look forward to sharing my experiences on this forum.

Welcome back and welcome to the site.
The prospecting section here is wonderful and I look forward to seeing pics from you in the near future.

Welcome. As you probably know there's opportunity just up river on the Stanislaus. Be sure to check out the regulations wherever you prospect as they are a bit nutz between Orangeblossom and Knights Ferry.

Enjoy

Yeah I've researched that but not willing to spend hours with a spoon and pan. Those are some stupid rules. I have done my research on the rules themselves and have not found any local ordinances or laws that support those rules. Their own pamphlet cites a code that has nothing to do with the equipment used for prospecting. I'm going to continue looking though.

To everyone else, thAnks for all the "welcomes".

Welcome to the site and happy hunting/prospecting!
