Bo't a moderately priced metal detector about 10 years ago because old flattened rusty tin cans kept turning up in the pasture. Plus I needed to find an old overgrown strand of barbed wire. The detector did both jobs beautifully but now I'd like to search old home sites. There is one on the property and one just outside. Times were tough so the chance of finding coins is very slim and that's ok. When we went to the local beach the lake was low and an old swede saw blade was laying just below the surface in the swimming area. We dug it out and it wound up in the dump. What all do I need for equipment to get started other than the detector, a shovel, garbage bag and a "treasure" bag.
