Hi All,

My name is John and I did some detecting about 25 years ago with a simple White's machine then left the hobby. I couldn't seem to find any silver with that machine, so I got frustrated. Anyway, I am back to give it a try again...this time with the AT PRO. Everything I have read leads me to believe that if I can't find silver with this machine it's definitely on me. With that said, I am happy to be able to benefit from the boundless knowledge of the many posters on this site. Thanks in advance for all of the insight and help I will glean from all of you. Now if only the perma-frost that I call a yard would just thaw out.

HH :)

AT Pro won't find silver better than any other detector. Since silver is highly conductive a lot of it has been found through the years but a lot remains too. You just need to get your coil over it where others haven't hunted. The newer ATP's are better than the first ones.

Thanks for the insight. I don't think there was anything wrong with the White's I used to have back in the day. I am pretty sure I didn't find silver, because I never took the time to learn what the detector was trying to tell me. That's a mistake I am not going to duplicate with the ATP.

Welcome John! I just moved from Michigan and Ohio is no less frozen :P Hope you have better luck this time around.

welcome! A little north of you here jb. In well hunted areas i,m hitting about one silver for each 200 coins. There are some under trash or other targets yet.
Its there. Enough time and you,ll score! H.H.

You might consider browsing Sub-Forums: Michigan for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state.

Its all about the location and 25 years ago you would have been in that virgin hunting time period ...since then people have pounded these spots...i found a nice virgin spot last summer and pulled 13 silver in a day ...but these spots dont last i hunted it out in a short time

Welcome from So Cal. HH !!!!!!!!!!!!! :hello:

Thanks all...I have not received my AT PRO yet. It's on the way, and I expect to be picking it up at the local Cabela's within a day or two. Til then I have a Radio Shack Discovery 2000, which I believe is a BH Lonestar. I took that out today and promptly found out that my front yard has a bunch of newer wheats in it. In a little less than two hours I dug up 17 pennies (7 wheats from '44-'55) and one new Rosie. It isn't much to brag about but I am happy with it, and it will give me a basis for comparison when the ATP does arrive...I'm thinking if I found that many wheats there's probably at least one merc out there...lol...Gotta start somewhere!
