Hey Gang,
Well, I'm back, not in full force, but at least I was able to MD today for the first time since I've had 'shingles.' Today is day #31 of this relentless shingle pain. Annnyway, enough of that. Below are some pics of a (hammered ?) pendant that was possibly made from a Greek coin. The last letter on the front looks like the Greek "S" Sigma. It was about 10 inches deep, and I found it in an area where I found several other old pieces, which I will put-up in another post. Any information will be appreciated. ;D Breezie

Yup..... Greek coin Breezie, I will try and find a match...welcome back :headbang: something like this one, only the words on the coin are slightly different :icon_scratch:

Attica, Athens AR "Transitional" Drachm. Circa 467/466 or 463/462 BC. Helmeted head of Athena right, in crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves over visor & a spiral palmette on the bowl / AQE, owl standing right, head facing; olive sprig behind; all in an incuse square. :laughing7: :laughing7: Silver is silver. It all melts the same. :laughing7: :laughing7:

Glad you are doing better. Stay well!

Lucas, it's not silver. I did the 'old spit test,' and it failed. For those of you that want to know how to tell if something is REAL silver or not, try this: Take a small piece of aluminum foil and put an item/ring that you KNOW is sterling silver on the foil, then spit on it. Fold the alumiumn foil tightly shut, and wait 10 seconds. As you unfold it, take a sniff, and it should smell like rotten eggs.

Thanks for the well-wishes! ;D

Nice finds.
Cute owl on the back of that coin.
The Indians carved a similar owl
on a rock near here.
Maybe they were Greek Indians?
I wish I could help you make an identification but Greek coins are pretty much Greek to me.
