Saturday BadJim and I went to an old ball field we found from an old newspaper clipping, started getting lots of shallow clad right away and I knew that was a good sign this place wasn't pounded to death. Was almost an hour of nothing but clad then The first silver showed up, 1947 rosie, a few feet away a merc popped out, one lone wheat, then a third silver dime another merc was found there. Jim wasn't getting anything good so we decided to try somewhere else. We hit beside an old church and I nabbed another silver rosie there, then the last stop we knocked doors and got permission at a farm, I got a nice sterling ring, couple wheats and a WWI button. I was more than happy with a 5 silver saturday!
Sunday we hit a field site that I just got permission for yesterday, I actually called the farmer on april 1st and he said he would call back....well 18 days later he called and gave me the go ahead! I was surprised to even hear back from him. This field was loaded with non ferrous targets, bits and scraps of copper and brass everywhere, tons of harmonica reeds, 22 casings, shotgun shells, you name it! For the good stuff there I found a nice point laying on the surface, 3 indians, 2 CW general service buttons, one is toast, but the other is real nice. Last good find of the day was a CW token. Oh almost forgot the small silver disk has ZERO detail on either side but has EXACT diameter of a 3 cent silver.....so it may be an extrememly worn 3 cent piece
Great weekend for sure!
