Hello everyone! I am new to this thread but have been using metaldetectingforum for awhile. I am in need of some help if possible please. I am a US Soldier stationed in GErmany and detect quite often, usually being able to identify finds from Google or other detectorists in the area pretty quickly. BUT today;s find is a hard one, can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction. Thank you very much!!

Welcome to the site DJ.

You got a 1 Kreuzer, Stadt Konstanz, around 1700. 1 Kreuzer o.J., um 1700 Konstanz Stadt: ss-vz Münzen

I remember you saying that at this period they were milled & not hammered, is that the case with this one?

Not sure on this one. Konstanz as town means local coinage with low quantity. Could be still/again hammered. Also looks like low grade silver or billon.

Welcome aboard!

Very cool coin, with ties like that to such local minting.

Would be interested to hear how permissions go with you there. I'm hoping to do a few years civilian DOD in Germany and England once the kids are out of the house in another 6 years.

Cheers

Sweet dig Hoo-ah. I was only in Germany for 3 days enjoying some R&R from OEF back in 04. Enjoy all the detecting possible while you're over there. I dream of digging a 1600's coin, where you have a chance of digging early AD coins.

Thanks! I have been pretty lucky so far, have dug 4 total from the 1600s, one a nice BIG Silver 24 Kreuzer, Bavarian.

Would love to explain through PM, but it varies state by state, in Bavarian where I live there are some nice laws helping the detectorist in my opinion. Plus I work closely with the local government, especially Customs, which makes connections pretty easy.
