GREAT STANDING LIBERTY QUARTER AND LARGE CENT

driving by the house next door and noticed that the front yard was dug up. there putting in new sidewalks. i find stuff there every time i md. the house is 200 years old. so i pull in and start swinging up the dug out side walk and get a great signal. 77 on my m-6 and im hoping it is a lc. i dig down 6 inches and i see the edge. large cent. 6 one for the year. i wipe it to see a date 1839. start swinging again and 2 feet away a 82 signal at 5 inches. i dig down and i see the edge and it looks good. silver in the hole. 1 1917 standing liberty quarter. i pull the coin out and hit the hole again and another signal. i move the dirt and i find a 1902 IH. still more in the hole and out comes a 1893 v nickle and 3 wheats 1919, 1918 and ? my first coin spill and first standing lib, v nick, and IH. what a great day. can't wait till friday for another hunt.

That is the single, best SLQ I've ever seen dug! It's so sharp you can even tell there's no chain mail on that one! (unless my eyes deceive again. )

Hi - Actually that's a myth, the public was OK with the original design. America was about to go to war and they wanted to portray a different image to Germany than what the original design portrayed so they altered it.
