I rushed out the other day to do a quick hunt at an old stone foundation our friend Bobby told us of last year. It was a chilly afternoon and quite breezy. Leaves of yellow, red and burnt orange canvased the floor. I didn't find a heck of a lot but I did manage to dig a mangled great seal button with the "waterbury" quality mark. It also feels heavier than my other seal buttons. Probably 1902-present but, this just seems older. Thanks! HHHH

A square button? Is it square or just bent?

Well Dale, That's what I thought and it feels like lead. If you look on the back you can see where it looks circular. Just smashed up I guess

This is what I have for buttons that have WATERBURY on the back. I havent found anything about lead.

1- SCOVILL MF'G CO WATERBURY (back ungilted) WWI (1850-1865 backmark)
2- SCOVILL MF'G CO WATERBURY WWI (1850-1865 backmark)
3- SCOVILL MF'G CO. * WATERBURY * 1902-1918 (1870s-? backmark)
4- SCOVILL MF'G CO. WATERBURY CT. WWI (1870s-? backmark)
5- SCOVILL M'FG CO. WATERBURY (ring of dots) 1902 (1860-1880 backmark)
6- WATERBURY BUTTON CO. * 1849-1965
7- WATERBURY BUTTON CO. *CONN.* pre 1965
