Saturday:

Hit the first town-wide sale of the year. It was in an older, well-established area with lots of older homes and some wealth too. Hit at least 30 sales in 2 hours. Ended up with some nice stuff, even with a LOT of competition:

-industrial hanging work light/lamp (Hubbell parts, Uno shade) - $1
-copper tea kettle - $4
-Gold Dust powder porcelain sign - $5
-small copper lamp - $1
-some DVDs -$1
-military patch - $1
-6 buffalo nickel concho button covers - $1

P.S. On Friday I bought 1350 wheat pennies for $45. Pulled out a bunch of "better" dates but only 1 key date, 1911-S.

I was able to join Ben on the Saturday hunt and picked up a Magic Chef Mini Fridge for $15 (Kudos to Ben for convincing me to haggle on it, even though the initial $20 would have still been a steal), Lane Chest Salesman's Sample ($.50). Operation "Covert Chill" will go into effect on Saturday which will essentially consist of me sneaking said Mini Fridge into my office cubicle.

Ben, I'm glad you got that 1911s you were needing for your album. Good score , how's the condition on it? What kind of military patch, did you ID it yet?

btw- I dug a rusty one of those buff. nickel button covers while detecting a while back.

G-04 on the 1911-S but like you said, I needed it for my album so I am happy. The patch is 3785th Field Training Wing Air Force patch. My favorite find for the day was the hanging work lamp. It has a wood handle and it has an old style plug/cord and an old style switch (the style that is like the knobs that tune guitar strings). Should fetch $100+ with the proper keywords.

Yes, if it is an actual "saleman's sample" and not the little jewelry box type that they made. But for .50 you can't go wrong either way.

I think the "Gold Dust" is the prize of the bunch, if real.
Looks real!
