Tonight I finally managed to get a great group of friends together for a hunt in our so called "evil" park  We've hammered this place, but it keeps giving me enough to come back for more.

Jeff of PA, Bruce (bkinpa, though he never posts >:( ), Bruce's honey Carolyn, Randy and DKinPa. I"ve been trying to get all these people in the same place for over a year now and for once I talked them into a hunt. Loved spending a little time with each of them and hopefully we can do it again soon.

I managed 6 wheats in short order, seemed they were coming up fast and furioius for the first half hour.
1938, 1956, 1953, 1913, 1939 and 1942.
proceeded to pull 38 cents gas rebate after that.
Got the decorative hinge, has the numbers 408 engraved on the back, it was down VERY deep :dontknow:
Next came the flower charm.
All left except DK and we kept at it...finally after 8p.m. I hit a pretty sounding target and around the 9 inch mark I had a 1935 Mercury Dime.
Walked over to show it off to DK and took 3 steps away from him, turned around and said "penny down there deep". He swept his coil over the spot and said "nope, dime". He dug the dime and I swept the area again, insisting there was still a penny. He checked and said, nope....have at it and walked away. 8 inches of digging later I pulled up the "coin" and said WOAH, check this out. It is a coin/medallion commemorating Harrisburg as the new Capitol of PA!!! I'm tumbling it now so I can make out more of the writing, so far I see what i've already typed, plus a picture of the capital building and the name Theodore Roosevelt. Hopefully I can get more info off of it.

Darkness set in and the night was over, but I want all my friends to know that I am so glad we all finally got together and we NEED to do it again and soon!

Hey Den...congrats again on the Merc and the token!! How did that thing clean up for you?

Nice research Jeff (as usual)!!

Dave

Nice finds.

I just LOVE that token. I think they are just as fabulous as the coins of that era.
That is sweet. You should be real proud of that one!

PS I would like to find one too!
