Great metal horse find - Need help on ID please

Well detailed metal horse found in the woods near an old farm. Pretty heavy item, measures 9 inches long and looks to be a carousel part? I would like to know if anyone has info about this item and could date the era?

This one looks pretty close, most I see running that way are on fire wagons.
says the horses are 9-1/4"

I have a cousin that was born in 1927 and he had some heavy cast iron toys. I was born in 37 and didn't have any. WWII changed toys from metal to plastic early on.
