First off, Thanks guys for coming out and making it one of those hunts that you can look back on and share with others.
Sat 4-18-09
Made plans to meet up with Mark (Watercolor ) and Neil ( Kimsdad ) at a soon to be tear down then after wards go and hit another house that I got permission to do a few months ago.
Skinny Puppy called me to see what was going on so he meet up with us too.
Had a fantastic day (Not so much with the finds) being out at 2 great places and being out with some great hunting friends.
Hey guy’s it was FUN, I had a blast..
Some great finds were found too by all
For me I started off with 4 tokens in one hole all the same that say
GUS' GOOD FOOD Matching Coin 420 N Dearborn St
Chicago Delaware7-1782
Later on I got a Lone Ranger’s HI HO SILVER Good Luck coin.
A little disappointed that I didn’t get a silver coin or a real good keeper.
The Minelab’s were outdoing the White’s , why didn’t I just go get mine, I had it with me….anyways
At the 2nd house I went probably 2 hour’s with out a good keeper.
Neil ( the nice guy that he is ) said here Bob, dig this signal ….turned out to be a clad quarter
A good hour later and I'm the only one with no silver ,Neil again says here check this signal out.
( I wish I would have had this on video )
I go over the spot hummmm nice quarter signal 6 ½ inches deep.
Neil tells me to go for it it’s yours.
I dig the hole and probe it and it’s still in the hole. Hummmm
I pop the coin up and see the reeded edge and were both looking at it.
I pulled it and laid it on the dirt pile. Pictures taken then
I thought it was a Barber so Neil put it in water and it turned out to be….
( Drum Rollllllllll ) a Beautiful 1917 S Type 1 SLQ VF -XF
Neil told me it was mine. It’s yours. No it’s yours You keep it you dug it
No it’s yours you found it I just dug it. No you keep it I’m a man of my words he said.
There was no way I was going to keep that beauty. To be honest, if it was a common Washington I would have but this beauty belonged to the friend that located it. I would not feel right keeping it nor would I want a friend like Neil to have that awful feeling of he let that beauty get away from him.
The event happening even made that find a bit more special …. KARMA
There is a story to go with that Beautiful Coin….I’m glad I was a part of it too.
Thanks Neil for the thrill being part of that find…
I did manage to find a Silver 1943 quarter about ½ hour later on my own….. I literally did the HAPPY DANCE on that silver
Also found a dog whistle and a broach.
Lots of junk and 7 Wheat's and $1.90 in battery rebate money
Here's the pictures of my meager find but the memory of the hunt is better.
For those of you who may have missed Kimsdad's Post in Today's Finds, here is the link. Check it out it's great..........
