I went to one my Ft Ancient village sites today for a little bit while my wife and son went to a fund raiser. I had a few hours to kill and figured what better way to kill them. Boy, am I glad I decided to go. I had a really good hunt. I only found 1 Triangle Point and it has the tip broken off, but I found a really nice Drilled Tooth, 3 really nice Bone Beads, a crude Pottery Disc, a couple pieces of cut Deer Antler, a nice tip off of a Bone Awl, and of course the find of the day, a nice little Elbow Pipe made from what looks to be a fine grained sandstone. Since it was a nice bright sunny day I had my camera with me and got some great in situ pictures.

First the in situs and then I'll post the cleaned up pictures on the next post.

The 1st two pictures are the Bone Awl. I found this in the brush by raking my hand and clearing off the dead leaves.

Pictures 3 and 4 are the Drilled Tooth. I was crawling when I found this. I love crawling up on these. lol

The next three pictures are Bone Beads. That makes 10 in two trips there.

The next three are of the Elbow Pipe. The first one is just how I first saw it. I knew immediately what it was and I was just hoping it wasn't damaged, but unfortunately it has some damage to the bowl and a tiny spot on the stem. It will still look real good in a tray though.

The last picture shows all the Bone, Shell, Pottery, and Flint that litters the site. Now you see why I crawl. lol

looks like you had a killer day,i went out today and only found 3 small points,in your first pic with the bone bead is that a point in the upper right ,looks like the base to a triangle with the maple seed across it

I just realized after looking closely at the in situ pictures that I missed a Triangle Point. In the 5th picture down if you look just to right of the Bone Bead you can see an obvious base sticking out. It looks like the tip is missing, but I'm still ticked I didn't see it. I've got a good idea where the Bead came from so I might run back out tomorrow and see if I can find it.

Road Dog, that's what I was refering to in my post above. I missed that one and I'm going to go back and get it. I know where that first Bead was found so I should be able to find the point.

Nice hunt and insitu pics. I can see why you quit hunting for those small pieces of coiled metal.

Man, what an exellent day you had.
Killers, all of them.
Besides the pipe, I especially like the drilled claw.
I think there was a thread on here recently about drilled claws.
Bravo!

Great finds those tooth and pipe insitus are amazing congrats...

Great finds Steve!I really like those drilled canines.Do you ever sell or trade any of them?

Oh, I don't know John. What do you have in mind? That killer Scotty??? lol ;D

Actually, they are so hard to find whole and in that perfect of condition, so I doubt I would ever trade or get rid of any.

way cool stevie!
you have fertile ground and you sure have a nice website
maybe I should take pictures for the tnr's and let them find them like what just happened with your post here
I have never found more than a half of a pipe but I know they had them here also

Holy cow!! What a killer hunt! Bone beads, drilled teeth and another pipe! Great day and pictures.
Any one item would have been a great day. You are on a site that is very kind to you.
Keep sending the wife to the fundraisers I think it must be good Mojo!!!!!!

Congratilations Steve. Enjoyed all of it.

There's also a sharks tooth right next to the blade you missed on the right. Good stuff :icon_thumright:

I doubt that. I have hunted this site for 15 years or so and have never seen a sharks tooth come from here.

I did go back out to see if I could find the point I missed and had no luck. I thought I knew just where it came from but I couldn't find it. I'll have to look a little more closely at the picture and see if I recognize anything.
