NEED HELP IN IDENTIFICATION TOKEN: This is my first post to TN although I have been detecting for 4 years. I need help in identifying the token. It was VERY crusty and I thought it was a penny but I got a pleasant surprise with the old eagle design. I also am not sure of the other old relics. They were all found along a large creek in the city by an old bridge. Anyone know if they may be suspender clips. I also found this awesome barber quarter with great detail. The night before I found the silver necklace and 14k gold ring at a local park.

Could it be a civil war token?..... cool, whatever it is.

Well, it looks to me to be a Civil War Store Card. The reverse die is Rulau 1178. I believe that the obverse says Indianapolis at the bottom, which makes sense if you found it there. Rulau lists no store card with that reverse die from Indy though. The key to ID'ing this is in getting as many details off the obverse as possible. If you can figure out a number of the letters there, its possible to start fitting in possibilities till you find the one that fits. Also, PM idahotokens and see if he can help, he usually checks any posts with token in the title, but you may need to get his attention here. He has quite a number of resources. I checked tokencatalog, but found nothing there in Indianapolis.

Also, if you can provide better close up pics of the obverse, without the glare, that might help.

Thanks for the help on identifying the token. I believe it does say Indianapolis on the bottom and that is where it was found. It definitely says dry on the left. Unfortunately I cannot seem to get more detail than that. However, I find anything from the civil war era to be a great find.

Yeah, I was pretty sure I was seeing dry also. Dry Goods was my thought, but that didn't match any in the book.
