Great find from backyard foundation...Walking Liberty!

Went back to the burnt down foundation at my dads house and got this on my second hit! A 1941 Walking Liberty Half Dollar! Have to say I'm pretty pumped. It always seems like after I find one silver I cant find another, but I can't complain. Also found some clad and some kind of token that says C.J Skellinge(r,n,t), dont know the last letter and it has a 5 on the back... I do have to say the junk bag was pretty full though. I really think I'm just scratchin the surface though!

Also, one of my younger sisters was tellin me awhile back about how she accidentally lost our other sisters ring like a year ago. The ring was her great grandmothers. So to make it short I managed to find the ring today and Idk if it was real gold or not, but I'm just happy I was able to give it back to my sister who lost it. I thought she was gonna cry. Great satisfaction today my friends!

Nice finds! Of course, the tokenheads among us would like to see pics of the token. The best I can do from your description is suggest it may be from Owego, NY - Carl Skellenger's saloon. He is shown in the 1910 Census but I haven't been able to determine a middle initial yet.

Well I do live like 10 minutes from Owego, so I'm guessing hes the guy. This is the best I can do on the token. Its pretty crusted and Idk the best way to clean it, so if you have any tips I'll take em

I'm now convinced that your token is from Carl J. Skellinger's saloon in Owego at 195 Main Street. He is shown in the 1900 & 1910 Federal Censuses and the 1915 NY State Census as saloon-keeper, but his middle initial was not shown. In the 1930-31 Owego City Directory his widow is listed as "wid Carl J.". He also shows up in the 1917 Binghamton, NY City Directory as a bartender. I theorize that Owego's citizens voted the town or county dry so he had to temporarily relocate to wet Binghamton to keep employed.

Put the token in hydrogen peroxide and use a brass brush. Works great which i did on my token i found. Look under token bonanza from iasoldier

It's an aluminum token, does that make a difference?

I actually bought a rotary tool kit today for only 11 dollars and it had a brass brush attachment. The token cleaned up nicely
