Great Day Relic Hunting With My Son

Great hunt. Always good when you hunt with your son. Love it! Oh yeah, that was the straightest spoon I ever saw dug. Mine are always bent around! HH

Yeah we had a great time. He loves being in the woods and finding odd older stuff! That spoon was really shallow too, but it was right by the wheat pennies we dug.

Nice variety of finds. Like the splitting wedge. The farther you have to carry them, the heavier they get.

We left right after we found that. The really cool thing is that most of the targets where not that deep. I am used to beach hunting where the really good stuff is very deep. The wedge was only a few inches down. I can't wait to go back and see what else we can find.

That's what is all about - Great to hear you got out with your son and enjoyed so quality time together. Hope the ticks and sqeeters weren't too bad!!! :occasion14:

Thats awesome that you take your son and find alot of neat relics. you might check out the thermacell products for dealing with the misquitos, I use them for deer hunting and relic hunting both and they really seem to do a good job.

Thanks! I will have to give those a try.

Here's a link to a list of Wilson Bohannon pad locks, maybe ya'll can determine which one the part ya'll found came from.

Thanks for all the information. I looked through the locks at that page and none of them seem to be the same as the one we found. It has 70, 78 or something like that stamped in large letters underneath the pat pending info. It was really exciting bringing that home and cleaning it up.

Congrats on getting out with your son! I miss hunting with mine who is off in college. Some of our best times have been out relic hunting. Those are some cool finds!
